About Us
A total commitment to
Personal Care
At Newlings of Royston, we have a total commitment to the service of the bereaved and the care of the deceased. We understand that this is a difficult time and are available whenever you need us. We are a family run business, offering a personal, professional service, delivered by our friendly team with empathy and dedication. We treat every person and every funeral as unique, and all of our clients receive the utmost care and attention.
Supporting our
Community
We sponsor a range of events, such as golf days and bowls events, all of which benefit our communities. The company also supports many local church magazines and brochures.
We try to be actively involved in serving our community, not only by providing a professional funeral service but by helping others where we can.
Our
History
Mr Sidney Newling founded the family funeral firm of S. Newling and Son in 1945.
Succeeded on his retirement by his son, Norman, the business grew steadily to become the leading funeral company in Royston.
The firm was purchased from Mr Newling in May 1999 on his retirement from the funeral business but retains his name out of respect for the high esteem in which he was held.
The business moved from its former location in Market Hill to its current home in Fish Hill Royston in January 2000. At the new premises we are able to offer tasteful surroundings which are comfortably furnished in which our professional and fully qualified staff can help bereaved families through the emotionally challenging task of arranging a funeral. We are also able to offer a private viewing chapel and showrooms displaying our range of coffins and monumental masonry to provide clients the widest choices possible.
Today we are highly regarded funeral directors building on the foundations put in place by Norman Newling and his father and offering only the highest standard of care and attention.
We pride ourselves on the fact that we have preserved family values and have been able to uphold the traditions of our profession whilst at the same time broadening choice to accommodate those who might wish to adopt a more modern approach to arranging a funeral.
A trained member of the team is on hand 24 hours a day, 52 weeks of the year.
The funeral home has excellent facilities with a Chapel of Rest, reception area, waiting room and offices, all of which are comfortable and tastefully furnished with fine reproduction furniture.
As an independent business, the team has a total commitment to their clients’ individual needs and an overriding respect for the deceased.
